Saemangeum Aircraft MRO
Overview
This is a project to create a world-class aircraft MRO cluster by attracting a leading U.S. aviation maintenance university to Saemangeum International Airport, which is scheduled to be completed in 2028, to train high-value-added advanced maintenance personnel such as aircraft engine maintenance.
Korea does not have a specialized educational institution to train high-end maintenance personnel, such as aircraft engine maintenance, so it relies on overseas aircraft maintenance annually.
To improve this situation, the Corporation has established the Korean Campus of Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in the U.S. to prepare for domestic and international aviation MRO demand by training personnel with advanced maintenance courses such as aircraft engines and global aviation certifications.

Boeing forecasts a requirement globally for 632,000 maintenance technicians through 2038. The demand is greater than the supply. The need for maintenance personnel is most extensive in the Asia Pacific region, requiring 266,000 new technicians.
