International Yacht School
I. The Necessity for a Branch Campus of the World-Renowned School
Even though Korea’s large-scale shipbuilding industry is globally competitive, the yacht and boat design field has not developed due to the lack of relevant human resources.
In particular, Korea’s marine leisure industry has been developing rapidly in recent years, and the number of people who want to enjoy aquatic sports is increasing significantly. However, no production plant designs and manufactures yachts in Korea.
Many yachts for sale are imported over a decade old, which raises significant safety issues.
Together with the Korean Government, we aim to establish a school in partnership with a highly regarded international yacht manufacturing and design institution. The school will be located in the same area where Korea's first shipyard was established.
Although the shipbuilding industry has since shifted to neighboring cities such as Gejedo (home to Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd.) and Ulsan City (the headquarters of Hyundai Heavy Industries), our goal is to transform the region into an educational and tourist destination attraction site.

The area of Yeondo-Gu in Busan (refer to the map below) is home to shipbuilders that create ships below 3000 tons. Additionally, there are nearby parts and materials industries. If a school focused on designing and manufacturing yachts and boats is established in this area, we anticipate a resurgence of East Asia's yachting and tourism industry.
In conclusion, the demand for marine leisure vessels is increasing due to the expansion of the marine leisure market, such as the registration of new marine leisure vessels, the growth of marina facilities, and the increase in the marine leisure population. However, the development of the maritime leisure vessel industry needs to be improved.
Therefore, it will be an essential milestone for the Asian maritime industry to contribute to developing the naval leisure ship industry in Korea and Asia by establishing a school to train human resources to design and manufacture yachts and boats.

II. Overall Market and Sales Channel
Surrounded by the sea on three sides, Korea has recently experienced an explosion in marine leisure, and many Koreans are interested in aquatic sports.
In particular, young people have formed clubs for yachting and surfing and are enjoying their popularity. Still, since only several yacht manufacturers exist in Korea, around 90% of yachts are imported from overseas.
Therefore, students who have completed high school are interested in the marine leisure shop industry and become the priority prospective candidates.
In addition, professionals who have recently retired from big companies, the military, banks, and universities are also pursuing hobbies and jobs simultaneously through lifelong learning in their second life after retirement so that they will be major prospective candidates as well.
Many people worldwide prefer the K-POP represented by BTS, and BlackPink might be interested in attending this school.

III. How to Attract Prospective Candidates Living Abroad and Expatriate
The demand for international students to attend American yacht academies is high throughout Asia. Therefore, infrastructure such as dormitories and a real estate immigration system that can accommodate these students is a prerequisite.
Fortunately, the site has many advantages, including the overseas real estate immigration system and residential environment for retirees. It reverses migrants and is close to South Korea's second-largest city and international airport, so it forms better conditions than other regions to secure educational demand.
Many Koreans living abroad have recently moved back to Korea with their children due to its rapid economic and cultural growth.
They want to move back to Korea to live with their children. The Korean government also plans to strengthen support for overseas Koreans by establishing an Overseas Korean Affairs Office in 2023.
